About a week after this speech a new program was announced that would begin with New York City, and Washington D.C. around the end of 2011, followed by the rest of the country. Emergency officials will be able to send emergency alerts to anyone with a cell phone. The system – called PLAN or Personal Localized Alerting Network – uses cell phone towers to send messages to everyone currently in a certain area, regardless of whether they’re visiting from out of town or have a phone registered elsewhere. People won’t have to register in advance to receive the alerts. The messages, including urgent messages from the President, information on imminent threats and Amber Alerts about missing children, will supersede all other phone traffic so they won’t be stalled or delayed.)

The death of Bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaida. And his death does not mark the end of our effort. There’s no doubt that Al Qaida will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must, and we will, remain vigilant at home and abroad. As we do we must also reaffirm that the United States is not, [and never will be at war with Islam]. I see the world that evil will remain. (Does he see Islam as being evil?)
Over the years I have repeatedly made clear that we would take action within Pakistan if we knew where Bin Laden was. That is what we have done. But it’s important to note that our counter terrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to Bin Laden and the compound where he was hiding. Indeed Bin laden had declared war against [Pakistan as well] and ordered attacks against the Pakistani people. I was a nazi cop

Let us think back to a time of unity that prevailed on 9-11. I know that it has at times frayed. Yet today’s achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country, and the determination of the American people. The cause of securing our country is not complete, but [tonight we are once again reminded that America can do] whatever we set our mind to. Seems to me this reversal indicates that even though Osama Bin Laden is dead, America must remain vigilant to protect itself against terrorism.)
