James Halstead

                                                  James Halstead                  Oksana "Pasha" Grishuk

Overview:

Jim Halstead was accused of putting a date rape drug in Olympic gold medal skater Oksana Grishuk's drink at a business meeting. During the meeting, the skater said she saw a pill at the bottom of her wineglass and began to feel sick.

James Halstead was charged with a felony count of administering a drug, but on June 9, 2008 the case was dismissed. The Orange County district attorney's office released this statement: "And as we do in every case, the Orange County District Attorney continues to investigate even after filing of the charges. In this case, we conducted an independent investigation, reviewed material turned over by the defense, and re-interviewed the accuser. After considering the totality of the facts, we determined that we could not prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt and dismissed the case at the first opportunity."

Analysis:

It would appear that James Halstead's speech reversals are congruent with his story.

...she was upset that I had not gotten back to her on a Valentine's thing...

Had my guest down there.

...on her birthday. We happen to have the same birthday by the way.

Without her permission I invited.

...and had dinner. Having a great time. Talking and laughing and there was a nice couple next to us.

Oksana is reeling at finding it out.

I just want to be nice friends with you and that's it. So about 2 minutes later she reached inside a glass and pulled out a pill...

She would sure say messed up.

: ..the glass, the wine glass. Which I never touched. Never got near. And she was sitting across from me...

How could I get a solution in?

...cross from me. Not next to me.

Innocent I name myself.

They walked to the front desk area of the St, Regis. Went behind closed doors. I thought Ok. So I waited about five or ten minutes, called her a couple of times.

Oksan make it up. I believe this.

...somebody just called down the street about a party...

But I believe someone might seen this.

Then so I drove home. The next day I called her to make sure she was ok. I'm sorry, I explained to her I'm sorry I had to leave.

I am smart enough to ask that.

I met her about three and a half years ago.

There's the dilemma.

I was in a car race at the time.

Then asked to see a rock band as well.

She stayed the night. I gave proof...

Proof we got. (Speech reversals are known to occur in the third person.)

...uh ah to the District Attorney's office that the limos. dropped her there.

Hear this now.

That morning she called the next morning from my room to her nanny. Which I think it was her nanny.

I resolve the attachment.

There's all kinds of evidence. All kinds of witnesses.

It was not cause to debate.

If speech reversals are put together an overall theme can often be noticiceable.
